Four Steps to Getting a Web Site On-line

There are a minimum of 4 things required to get your business online

Step One: Domain Name (URL) Registration

A domain is your name on the internet. On the internet, the standard practice is to type a name, like MyWebsite.com. This is a sample internet name for your website so that anywhere in the world when someone types www.thenameofyourwebsite.com into their browser your website will show up. Keep in mind you are competing with the entire world so what you thought was a completely unique name might already be used by someone and you have to get creative to come up with a name that is not already used and is easily typed into a browser. Step Two Hosting your Website

We will help you decide on a “Hosting” account for your website. You basically are buying storage space from a provider which allows you to store your websites content and the price is usually determined by how much storage space you will need and how much traffic is allowed to your website. Step Three: Design of the Web Site.

This can be done by yourself if you have the time and patience or you can pay a designer to do it for you. Two important points to make here are:
1. The initial design is only the starting point for your web presence, you will also need to monitor, maintain and market your website.
2. Do not make the mistake of asking your web designer to make your site look like Disney.com but only expect to pay for ??? and especially don’t make the mistake of putting your website online and then not update it

Step Four: Marketing your web site.

Most people begin their search for a product online using a search engine like Google so remember there is much more work that needs to be done to insure people can find your product or service on the internet. Do not be discouraged by this because at the very least just having a website is essential and before the internet your only options were very limited and usually pretty expensive compared to what you can put on a website.
